Screenplay Translation

"I reword my style until it becomes natural."
[Quotation by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe -
    translation by Gabriela Baptista]

When it comes to screenplay translations it is very much the same, only that one has to translate from one language to another and one should attend to the appropriate mixture of written and spoken words. When it comes to the translation of dialogue, it is essential to have a working knowledge of the other culture, of its conventions, manners, and concept of humour, as well as of mourning, and its emotionality in general

In short: if you want the translation to sound spontaneous, natural, and smooth instead of stilted, artificial, and bumpy, all elements must be carefully considered!
